Summary: Bobby is 15 years old and your average kid. He wakes up one morning and cannot see himself in the mirror. He is actually invisible. He tells his parents and they try to figure out what happened over the next few days. Bobby gets sick of waiting for the adults to "fix" him so he wanders down to the public library one day... naked so no one will see an invisible person in clothes. He befriends a blind girl and the two of them try to solve his mystery together.

Comments: Such a lighthearted and cute mystery book. It is told in first person and Bobby is a very funny, sarcastic kid. I enjoyed reading this book and would look into the other book in this series.

Classroom Application:
Lexile: 690L
Age: 10-16 years old
Ideas for teaching:

  • Creative writing: Students could write about what their own experience would be if they woke up invisible.
  • This would be a good character development study and the changes that happened to both Bobby and Alicia, his blind friend. How they act differently when look are no longer a factor in a friendship.
